Lute, a 22 year old Charlotte native, grew up on the west side of the city in a neighborhood called University Gardens. Hip hop was a driving force from early childhood, Lute was influenced by artist such as 2Pac, Common, Andre 3000, Nas, The Pharcyde, Bone Thugs, ect.

Birthed to older parents, Lute also had a unique exposure to genres such as the Blues, Jazz and Rock. In 1996, at the age of 7, Lute was given his first hip hop album, which is why he named his first mixtape "West1996". Highly influenced by what he heard, he has been writing history ever since.

Lute says "that first album sparked a whole new generation of music in hip hop.” He also believes that coming from a city where rap music is highly over looked, he wishes to break that barrier and show that Charlotte has what it takes to be a voice in the industry. Also influenced by recent artist such as Big Krit, Lute pointed out that "music is music long as it comes from the heart no one can tell you that it’s not a song, if you can paint a picture of your struggle your happiness, whatever it may be, as long as it’s true to you and some one out there can relate, then it’s music."
